Ha nem értesz egyet az azonnali törlésre jelöléssel, cseréld le a {{speedy|indoklás}} sablont a {{delete|indoklás}} formára és indokold meg a változtatásod a lapon vagy annak vitalapján. Ha a lap nem azonnal törlendő (vandalizmus, spam stb.), illetve fejleszteni szeretnéd, töröld a sablont; azonban saját magad által létrehozott szócikkekről ne távolítsd el. A sablon a törlésre jelölt lapot elhelyezi a Category:Candidates for speedy deletion kategóriában.
A sablont a jelölt lap legtetejére kell helyezni. Ez vonatkozik a használaton kívüli lapokra, melyek tartalma nem tartozik a projekt témájához (de ebben nem vagy biztos), illetve minden más, nem egyértelműen az azonnali törlés körébe eső lapokra is. Minden más esetben a {{delete|indoklás}} sablont használd.
