You can use this layout to type Afrikaans with the punctuation and diacritical marks that are needed for correct spelling.

To enable it, do the following:

  1. Click the search box at the top of the page.
  2. Click the little keyboard icon that appears near the search box.
  3. If "Afrikaans" appears at the top of the list, select "Afrikaans tilde".
  4. If "Afrikaans" doesn't appear at the top of the list, do the following:
    1. Click "..." at the bottom of the list. A panel will appear.
    2. Find "Afrikaans" in the panel. Click it.
    3. Click the little keyboard icon again, and select "Afrikaans tilde".

To disable this special keyboard and go back to type usually, click the little keyboard icon and then click "Use native keyboard", or press Ctrl-M. To re-enable the Yoruba keyboard, repeat the steps listed above.

To type the diacritical and punctuation marks, type the tilde (~), and after it press the key that is the most similar to the diacritical mark. For example, to type ë, type e~:. The full list:

To type tone marks above the letters, type the letter, and then type tilde (~) followed by /, \, :, ^.
