The storage of attachment links for files allows users to get a convenient overview of which files are being attached to a page without having the check the raw wikitext.1 This feature is available since Semantic MediaWiki 3.1.0Released on an unknown date unknown versions of MediaWiki2 and allows for easier access to files, ultimately to promote further file annotations and consequently simplifying file exploration by wiki users.

The annotation of attachment links is done automatically once the storage of special property "Attachment link"Holds the links to files embedded on a page was enabled via configuration parameter $smwgPageSpecialPropertiesSets the page related special properties to be used.

It is also possible to expose the attachment links via the factbox which provides an additional tab called "Attachments"3 which will indicate the type of the image (given that information is provided by the `_MIME` type annotation), the last modification date, and whether the file is local or not (likely to indicate a foreign, non-local file).
